Indigenous Fire Management Seminar
The Siskiyou FilmFest hits the road in 2019 giving rural communities the opportunity to join in on the FilmFest tradition! Our first stop is in Williams, Oregon!
Celebrating the environment through film we invite you to please join us Sunday, April 14th!
We will begin the evening together screening the one hour documentary film, Wilder than Wild: Fire, Forests and the Future, which reveals how fire suppression and climate change have exposed our forests and wildland-urban landscapes to large, high intensity wildfires - and explores strategies to mitigate the impact of these fires. We will take a short break with a fundraiser dinner provided by the Sugarloaf Community Association (SCA).
After the film we will hear from Yurok tribal members on Indigenous Fire Management practices on how essential traditional burning is used as a tool to protect homes and communities while maintaining forest health and resiliency.
